NFF : CBN Not Delaying Payment Of Bonuses To The Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied spreading speculations that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is delaying the payment of players’ bonuses and other entitlements; npflupdates.com reports.

Speculations spread last week that the CBN is truncating efforts by the NFF to ensure full payment of match allowances to players and staff attached to the Super Eagles.

But the football governing body has come out to rebuff the claims. According to the Ibrahim Gusau led NFF, it’s unfair for people to sit in their comfort zones and concoct lies against the CBN.

“It is unfair for anyone to concoct lies against the institution for whatever reasons,” NFF’s statement partly reads.

Further speaking, the federation, clearly stated that it has never experienced any delays or complications of process at the national institution.

“We have not experienced any delays or complication of processes at the CBN this time, and we give kudos to them for their diligence and great sense of duty.”

In a related story, Super Eagles Midfielder Alexander Iwobi is upbeat that the team is ready to win its fourth AFCON title.

The Fulham FC playmaker made this known this during a pre-match press conference on Thursday morning.

“Musa told us how they won the 2013 AFCON. He’s creating the same environment and everyone is hungry,” Iwobi said.

He added, “We want to do it again.”

Meanwhile, coach José Peseiro has insisted that the possible absence of injured goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali from the squad to face Angola is nothing to worry about.

According to the former Venezuela national team coach, Uzoho is ready to fill the vacuum once Nwabali is not cleared.

However, the Chippa United goalkeeper will undergo a late fitness test in Thursday ahead of the Angola quarterfinal fixture.

“We have to wait for a late fitness test today, if he is not ready, I have other goalkeepers (Uzoho and Ojo). I believe and trust all my goalkeepers, if Nwabali is not fit, I trust Uzoho,” Peseiro told reporters.
