The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has denied speculations linking it to a Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma, NPFLUpdates exclusively reports.
Speculations last weekend linked the Rivers United gaffer to the NFF. According to what we initial gathered, Eguma was fingered to becoming the next head coach of the Nigeria U-23 team.
The Olympic ‘U-23’ Eagles are currently in Morocco for the second leg of the AFCON U-23 qualifier match against Guinea.
Last week at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, the Olympic Eagles was held to a goalless draw by the visitors. A result which could see them lose out of the AFCON U-23 tournament if they fail to beat Guinea today.

On the contrary, the NFF has rubbished the claim, saying it’s a false and lack any atom of truth.
What NFF said about Eguma:
“I can tell you that at no point in time did the NFF consider replacing the coach(Salisu Yusuf). It has never made it to a topic for discussion,” a NFF official told NPFLUpdates Sunday evening.
“He(Salisu Yusuf) is doing a great job, he led us to the victory against Tanzania. Any coach can lose or draw a game, he only drew the (Guinea) game due to luck was against us. We hit the woodwork through Abiodun, ordinarily that strike Would’ve been a goal.
“Anybody telling you otherwise is only lying. It is just a mere speculation by mischief makers, it lacked even a single atom of truth.”
A win against Guinea will automatically qualify Nigeria for the next edition of AFCON.
