NFF Get Hot Backlash From Fans For Dropping Super Falcons Dependable Player

Fans of Super Falcons of Nigeria drags the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, for omitting defender Ashleigh Plumptre from the squad that will take on Ethiopia in an Olympics qualifier double-header fixture npflupdates.com reports.

The NFF yesterday released a 25-woman squad for the Super Falcons Olympics qualifier fixture against Ethiopia later this month. The national team will hope to qualify for its first ever Olympics games since 2016 when they take on Ethiopia.

Plumptre who was an integral part of the team in Australia, wasn’t included for the Olympics qualifiers. Plumptre who’s eligible for the Super Falcons through her grandparents, last August joine Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad women after leaving Leicester City’s ladies.

And since her move, she has not been included in any Super Falcons squad for a game; she was missing the NFF releases a list for WAFCON qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe’s women (which couldn’t happen after Sao Tome’s withdrawal).

According to the list releases by the NFF, some notable names who were at the 2023 FIFA women’s world cup were missing. Players like Francesca Ordega, Abiodun Deborah, Ashleigh Plumptre, Echegini Jennifer were missing from the squad.

The complete list of players invited by NFF for the crucial fixture can be found below:

Goalkeepers: Chiamaka Nnadozie, Tochukwu Oluehi, Monle Oyono

Defenders: Osinachi Ohale, Comfort Folorunsho, Oluwatosin Demehin, Michelle Alozie, Nicole Payne, Jumoke Alani, Rofiat Imuran

Midfielders: Halimatu Ayinde, Peace Efih, Christy Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade, Tony Payne, Regina Otu

Forward: Omorinsola Babajide, Ifeoma Onumonu, Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu, Gift Monday, Opeyemi Ajakaye

Reacting, a Facebook user, Joe Nath, argued that Plumptre’s exclusion is a welcomed idea, as the qualifier game isn’t a competitive one.

According to him, Plumptre and other top players can join the team when they come up against tougher opponents.

“This is not a tough game for now,I believe other players in the world squad will definitely join the team when meeting tougher teams,” Joe Nath said on Facebook .

“She’s the best defender we have ,they have started their ways you can’t get tips from her so she must not be on the team foolish people,” Lateef Adeosun cried.

Players like Omorinsola Babajide, will be having an opportunity to make her Super Falcons debut.
