Oliseh Openly Talks About The Super Eagles After Mikel Obi’s Outburst

Mikel identify Oliseh as a clueless coach

Former Nigeria international Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh, applauds the Super Eagles of Nigeria following their magnificent display against Ivory Coast last Thursday npflupdates.com reports.

Oliseh appreciated Nigeria’s effort in defeating 2023 AFCON host Ivory Coast; while at the same time ending it’s winless run in three competitive matches.

Oliseh talks about Super Eagles players after Ivory Coast victory

After a keenly contested first half, that saw the host mount pressure on the Super Eagles, the 2013 AFCON winner managed to put themselves in front in the 55th minute. Team captain, William Troost-Ekong, converted from the spot after forward Victor Osimhen was brought down in the box.

Defenders Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey and combative midfielder Frank Onyeka were all instrumental as they hold their positions and secured the lead.

Reacting, Oliseh described the performances of the boys as “exceptional”, explaining that they worked as herculean.

“Ola Aina! Ola Aina !! Ola Aina!!! What a vintage, Naija like, exceptional performance he put up, as Super Eagles got their groove on to down Cote D’ivoire 1-0. Frank Onyeka & Calvin Bassey worked herculean too! Bravo boys!!,” Oliseh posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Meanwhile, the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, is yet to react to a statement by former Nigerian midfielder Mikel Obi, that he’s clueless as a coach.

According to Mikel, Oliseh was fantastic as a player, but had no clue of what football management was all about.

“He (Oliseh) had absolutely no clue of how a manager is. He was a fantastic guy in his playing days, but as a coach, he was very terrible. He absolutely had no clue of what he was doing,” Mikel said on the ObiOne podcast.

“The players never understood anything he was doing, and he did not know what he was doing. He was just confused because he just came in and destroyed the team togetherness.

In another story, Super Eagles Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has urged fans and supporters to encourage them. According to the former Enyimba FC shot-stopper, fans shouldn’t wait until they make a mistake before encouraging them.

“Please don’t wait for my mistakes. I need, we need, encouragement from #Nigerians, at this #AFCON,” he told journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.
