Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi, is officially the highest paid player in the Nigeria Women’s Premier Football League NWFL, npflupdates.com reports.

Onome Ebi returned to the local league after helping the Super Falcons reach a knockout stage at the 2023 FIFA women’s world cup tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
The experienced defender joined an Abuja-based club Naija Ratels; and according to a report by DailyTrust will earn to the tune of One Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira as monthly salary(N1,500,000). And that salary makes her the highest paid in the female category.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the Nigerian legend at Transcorp Hotel in Abuja last weekend, president of Naija Ratels Sports Development Foundation (NSDF) Barrister Paul Edeh, also revealed a land gift for the center-back.

“We are not only going to celebrate Onome, we will do what is required to celebrate the legend. And that is why today on behalf of RSDF, we are announcing a plot of land at Life Camp Abuja for Onome,” Barrister Ede said.
According to Edeh, the offer was in line with the Foundation’s resolve to continuously lift the status of Women football in Nigeria.
“I’m particularly elated today because what Onome brings to the club is beyond just playing football. His presence will also motivate other players of the club to bring out their best and aspire to be the best, play for Super Falcons and so on,” he continued.
“The best way to celebrate a woman who has not only made Nigeria but Africa proud is to name one of the stadia after Onome Ebi,” the businessman added.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Onome, confessed that her reason for joining Naija Ratels goes beyond football.
According to her, it’s all about inspiring young upcoming “female players from the grassroots to think & believe that if they dare like I did, they can make history like I did in a climate where a woman have to do twice as much work to achieve success.”

“I strongly think my story won’t be complete if I don’t accomplish the goal of giving back to the Nigerian league, which nurtured me to stardom,” he added.
