Opeyemi Ajakaye : The Outstanding Teenager That Will Lead Super Falcons Attack

Super Falcons will entertain a new lethal striker in Opeyemi Ajakaye as they anticipate a perfect start at the upcoming WAFCON qualifier fixture against Sao Tome and Principe’s women npflupdates.com reports.

It’s no longer news that the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, is bent on harnessing younger footballers. And integrating them into the national teams, so they can be groomed and stand a chance to represent old players.

And Opeyemi Ajakaye, Nigeria’s falconets goal-queen is among the raw talents. She and other local based players will be getting a shot in the senior team.

Ajakaye was with the falconets squad at the FIFA U-17 world cup tournament in India last year. And interestingly at the world cup, Nigeria put up a good fight to finish well.

Yesterday, officials of the Super Falcons, released a 23-player list for the crucial WAFCON qualifier. The list has witnessed mixed reactions from fans and football lovers. While some applaud the list, many questioned the inclusion of some players who they alleged are too old for the current tempo of football.

Opeyemi is a Nigerian football player currently contracted with Delta Queens. Last season, she helped the Delta-based club to win the Nigeria Women’s Premier League NWFL.

She was with Nigeria’s U-20 women at the WAFU-B U-20 tournament in Ghana. And there, she won the tournament’s highest goalscorer with six goals.

Last year, she won the Most Valuable Player MVP, award at the Lagos State federation’s cup.

Interestingly, she’s getting her first shot with the Super Falcons; and is expected to learn from the big players in the camp.

“Learn to glorify God with whatever you do, wherever you are, and the little that you have. Don’t wait for the promise to come to pass. Thank God in advance for what he said he would do,” Ajakaye said in a Twitter post.

Meanwhile, another football talents that is being introduced to senior women’s team is Comfort Folorunsho. The rock-solid defender will provide more options at the defense for coaches.

Also, Comfort was with the Delta Queens club when they won the NWFL title in Asaba, Delta State.

“Thank God for his grace and strength this past season. Shoutout to my teammates and coaches for their help and support. We’re Nigerian women football league (NWFL) champions,” Comfort Folorunsho wrote on Twitter when Delta Queens won the Nigeria Women’s Premier League.
