Osimhen per his performances was also voted as the Serie A best striker. And with the Nigeria Super Eagles he qualified for the upcoming 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament; finishing as the qualifiers highest goalscorer with ten goals.
The former Olympique Lille forward will compete stiffly against Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi for the POTY award.
Meanwhile the final three list of contenders for the CAF award wasn’t accepted by the Algerian Football Association, who questioned the inclusion of Mohammed Salah and Achraf Hakimi over Riyad Mahrez.
Per Sources, Walid Said argued that Salah has no place in the final three, instead a Riyad Mahrez who won the treble with Manchester City last season ought to be included.
