Osimhen Forgives Napoli After Firing Team To UCL R16

Victor Osimhen on Monday evening explained what happened between him and Napoli after his penalty miss against Genoa few weeks ago npflupdates.com reports.

Napoli’s TikTok handle after a Serie A game where Osimhen missed a penalty and had a touchline row with his then manager Rudi Garcia when he was substituted, shared a video of the Nigerian describing him as a coconut head.

Osimhen fired Napoli to the 2023 UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Osimhen after the video went viral and was subsequently removed deleted every video relating to Napoli on his Instagram handle. He also avoided shaking hands with some of his teammates when he arrived the club’s hotel ahead of a match.

At that time, it was speculated in the media that Osimhen was at loggerheads with the club, may leave the Estadio Diego Maradona during the winter transfer.

But Osimhen during his speech at the 2023 CAF award ceremony posited that TikTok stunt was a ‘stupid error’. Also, he insisted that neither the club nor President Aurelio De Laurentiis treated him badly.

“I must clarify something,” the former Olympique Lille forward was quoted by Daily Post Nigeria.

“I was not treated badly by Napoli or De Laurentiis. I’m sorry to say this word, but it was a stupid error from somebody who thought he could use a thing like that to joke at a crucial moment.”

Highlighting how he felt about the whole incident, the 26-year-old confesses not being happy, but was talked out of it by Di Laurentiis and his son Edouardo.

“I was certainly not happy, but De Laurentiis, his son Edoardo and many at the club have supported me,,” he continued.

He added, “They explained the situation, and even the person responsible for it was really nice to me. That was the most important thing. I spoke to that person and he proved to be deeply sorry. Everything has been solved, so I am happy with them. Now I look to the future to leave it behind. This story belongs to the past.”
