Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro until he signs an extended two-year contract will no longer continue as the Super Eagles head coach; npflupdates.com reports.

Peseiro will in no longer be considered as either the Super Eagles or the CHAN(home-based) Eagles head coach until he signs a contract extension.

José Peseiro out of contract with the NFF

Recall the former Sporting CP manager signed a six month extended contract with the NFF, with an option of another two years if he fulfil the conditions of the NFF.

There’s no doubt the former Venezuela national team coach met the major condition which is to take the Super Eagles to a semi-final finish at the 2023 AFCON. The 63-year-old did not only met the condition, but also reached the final of the AFCON, where Nigeria shockingly lost to host nation Ivory Coast.

A publication by Owngoal Nigeria, also confirmed that José Peseiro ceases to be the Super Eagles head coach.

“A disappointing and frustrating end. I deeply apologize to Nigerians.

“I’m a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night. We take full responsibility. Thanks for the whole support till the end. I love you all,” the Chippa United shot-stopper said.
