President Tinubu Clears Super Eagles Bonuses, Salaries Ahead Of 2023 AFCON Outstanding

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu releases funds that will see out every outstanding bonuses of the Nigeria National teams npflupdates.com reports.

President Tinubu in a bid to motivate Nigeria national teams in all of it endeavours this year has released money for the payment of every outstanding bonuses of players, coaches and other staff.

Recall, the PUNCH reported in 2020, that the Super Eagles complained that the then Federal Government led by President Muhammad Buhari was yet to release the N1.5bn approved for them to compete at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

“President @officialABAT has approved the payment of N12billon outstanding backlog for Nigeria’s National teams of various sports, which includes super eagles and others,” a Media account of President Tinubu posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the aide, the money released will see for the clearing of senior national team coach salaries which runs into months.

“The payment entails the clearing of the senior national team coach salaries running up to 15 months, payments of allowances and bonuses due to the senior national teams, females, and Under-20 national team,” it said.

“This is coming at a time when the Super Eagles of Nigeria are preparing to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, which is billed to start later this month.”

The Super Eagles is currently camping in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as they prepare for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The team will see the payment of the outstanding bonuses as a morale boost as they hope to progress out of its Group A.
