Samuel Omorodion : I’m Not Interested In Playing For Nigeria

On-loan Athletico de Madrid forward Samuel Omorodion opens up on his intentions of switch international allegiance to Nigeria’s Super Eagles npflupdates.com reports.

Samuel Omorodion 19, was born in Spain to Nigerian parents, and as much as he is eligible to represent Spain in international football, he’s also eligible to represent Nigeria. But it seems the teenager according to a recent statement accredited to him has swept Nigeria’s idea under the carpet.

On loan to Deportivo Alaves, Samuel confessed that Spain provided him with the opportunity of becoming a professional footballer; and as such he’s very grateful.

“Spain has given me the opportunity and I am very grateful for it. I don’t think about Nigeria,” Samuel Omorodion said and was quoted by Journalist Oluwashina Okeleji on X.

Samuel Omorodion further stated that his main dream is to debut for the Spanish senior national team.

“My goal is to debut with the senior side and have my career in Spain,” he added.

In another story, Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa, has called for the integration of local-based players into the senior men’s national football team.

According to Musa, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro and his crew needs to believe in the homebased players, and hence give them a chance to showcase their talents.

Musa was part of the Super Eagles team that won its last African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) a decade ago.

“The coaches need to believe in them to showcase their best for the team,” the former Leicester City man said.

“It’s fundamental to go back to our local league to get the best from the team.”

Recall that NPFL players in Sunday Mbah and Godfrey Oboabona were pivotal in the Super Eagles’ successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign in South Africa in 2013.
