Nigeria’s Super Eagles played out a one all draw against the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Uyo on Thursday’s 2026 FIFA world cup qualifier fixture npflupdates.com reports.
The Super Eagles failed to beat a depleted Likuena of Lesotho in their first fixture of the 2026 FIFA world cup qualifier in Uyo.

Nigeria approached the game as the big dogs having qualified for the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast; and also ending it’s fifteen-match winless run in international friendlies.
But the crocodiles under the tutelage of Leslie Notsi, held their positions, disappointed the Super Eagles in front of their home fan Nigerians, by salvaging a point.

However, the three-time African champions restored parity in the 63rd minute through an Oluwasemilogo Ajayi’s header, assisted by Leicester City man Kelechi Iheanacho.

“Drawing with a Lesotho team whose players are not even professional footballers.
“If the Super Eagles of Nigeria do not manage to qualify for the 2026 world cup. Fifa should ban us from the competition for at least 20 yrs. You can’t have this team and miss out on two consecutive world cups,” @yemisikola said on Twitter.

First, Super Eagles new recruit Nathan Tella wasn’t able to make his debut as he was an unused substitute in the world cup qualifier fixture.

Secondly, the Nigeria national team will have to step up their game in their next game against Zimbabwe in Kigali so they can stand a chance of qualifying for the 2026 mundial.
Can we please stop blaming the players. These boys are playing well or they played very well. Can God ever allow good thing and happiness in this kind of evil condition in Nigerian?
