Super Eagles Captain Move To Greek To Revive Career

Super Eagles Vice Captain, William Troost-Ekong, has joined Greek Super Leaghe outfit PAOK Thessaloniki npflupdates reports.

The defender joined the former Greek champions from an English championship side, Watford. And this move to Greece, was confirmed on Monday by the media.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Troost-Ekong joined PAOK on a permanent deal. And that he has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Greek Super League club side. And he is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the club as they seek to win the Greek Super League.

“It is now over for Abdul Rahman Baba at Chelsea. Contract set to be terminated on mutual agreement and he is joining Greek side, PAOK,” Romano said.

“PAOK will sign Baba as free agent on two year deal until 2025, also William Troost-Ekong joins PAOK from Watford on a three-year deal.”

Meanwhile, fans of the Super Eagles defender, are kicking against the move to Greece. They stressed that, a player of William’s calibre will be playing at the top clubs in Europe.

But the move according to football pundits, is a very good idea. Because, it will help the player regain his confidence and form; and of course helping me prepare for the bigger competitions.

William, joined Watford FC from Italian Serie A outfit, Udinese Calcio few years ago. And his efforts at the club, couldn’t help them avoid relegation.

And at the national team level, William seemed to have lost his position at the back for Super Eagles. In recent matches, the skipper normally starts from the bench;a sign of decline in his abilities and performances.

Before the move to Greece, William Troost-Ekong enjoyed a loan spell at Salernitana Calcio last season. And at the club, he was lucky to score his first ever Serie A goal.
