Super Eagles’ Goalkeeper Qualifies His Club For A European Playoff

Super Eagles’ Goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye has helped his team Hapoel Jerusalem qualify for a European club competition playoff NPFL Updates understands.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper, helped Hapoel finish on the fifth spot on the Israeli Premier League table. And by that finish, qualifying them to compete with teams higher on the league table for a European playoffs.

Hapoel in the just concluded 2022/2023 season managed a total of thirty-six points from twenty-six matches.

Reacting on the tremendous win, the former Hapoel Katamon goalkeeper took to his social media(Twitter) page to say despite securing a European club competition playoff spot, that his team is still pushing towards actualising another top target.

Super Eagles’ Goalie Excited About European Finish:

“Happy to end the season on a high, qualifying the team for European Playoff. We keep going till we achieve our target for the season,” he tweeted.

Interestingly, in the 2022/2023 season, Adebayo made a total of 20 Israeli Premier League appearances. He conceded 20 goals, and kept 8 clean-sheets. He was cautioned twice with the yellow card, and given the marching orders once with the red card.

According to a source in Israel, Hapoel is Keen on retaining the youngster who’s current contract will end next year. Based on the source, the paper works for the contract extension is in the final stages. Because the player’s agent and club’s representative are said to have met and discussed over the table.

Whether or not the 22-year-old will make, and probably get a chance in goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria during their AFCON qualifier remains a doubt. Because, Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro is Keen on using Omonia Nicosia goalie Francis Uzoho in goal.

Nigeria will engage the Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau in Abuja (24 March) and Bissau (27 March).
