Super Falcons Break 16-Year-Old Olympics Jinx

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will for the first time in 16-years-old represent Africa at the 2024 Olympics in Paris; npflupdates.com reports.

The Super Falcons beat arch rivals South Africa to the ticket after it qualified via  1-0 aggregate.

The Bayana Bayana failed to clinch the Olympics ticket despite trying so hard to beat the Super Falcons.

It was a keenly contested second-leg in Pretoria, but the Nigerian ladies held their positions and successfully defended their 1-0 lead.

Playmaker Toni Payne, in a pre-match press conference told NFF TV, that they’re prepared to face the South Africans.

According to the Sevilla feminine midfielder, it will be a dream turn reality if she can play at the Olympics.

“We are feeling really prepared we had the whole day to rest so the team is feeling really good,” she said on NFF TV.

“Coming off the win in the last game we have a lot of confidence and there will be improvements.

“I think it’s something to keep in mind obviously when you are away and when you have the crowd against you, it’s something difficult but we’ve come against worst odds we are ready to battle them.”

She added:”It’s been a dream of mine to be at the Olympics and hopefully we can get the ticket.”
