Following the sacking of coach Randy Waldrum by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, the Super Falcons coaching job at the moment remains vacant npflupdates.com reports.
Speculations spread shortly after the 2023 FIFA women’s world cup tournament in Australia and New Zealand that Waldrum will not continue as the team’s head coach. And this can not be far from the ugly PR that existed between the American and the NFF.
Just before the World Cup, Waldrum called out the federation for lack of support, and misappropriation of funds. Also, he accused the NFF of trying to blackmail him; by trying to force a player on him.
And in what seemed like a response, the football federation through its Director of Communications Ademola Olajire described Waldrum as a “blabbermouth”. Also, the NFF accused the American as being greedy and satisfying his selfish interest. More shockingly, Ademola Olajire, addressed Waldrum as the “worst coach” to manage the Super Falcons.

However, a communique made Public by the NFF after its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Uyo on Sunday, revealed that Waldrum has been fired. And that plans for recruiting a new coach is already in top gear.
NFF confirm sacking of Waldrum as Super Falcons coach
“The Board resolved to be thorough and ensure meritocracy in the composition of new coaching crews for the various Women National Teams (Super Falcons, Falconets and Flamingos) within the shortest possible time, as the Super Falcons and Falconets have crucial qualifying fixtures for major championships in a matter of weeks,” part of the communique read.
However, a Twitter post by journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, has contravened the part of the communique quoted above. According to the Nigerian journalist, a source in the NFF is still insisting that Waldrum hasn’t been fired.
“Guess what? My sources inside the @thenff are disavowing this particular part of the communique. ‘it’s not correct to say Randy is not continuing with the team,’ I was just told,” he tweeted.

Some fans of Coach Salisu Yusuf has advocated for the tactician to take over the Super Falcons on interim basis.
Salisu Yusuf was replaced by Jose Peseiro as the coach of the CHAN Eagles following the Portuguese’s contract extension.
According to the fans, Salisu Yusuf has what it takes to steady the ship until a new gaffer is appointed.
“It’s sad to learn that Randy (Waldrum) will not continue with the Super Falcons. But then, let’s advocate for an interim coach who can steady the ship until a new coach is around. For me, I’d say coach Salisu is good; but on the interim basis,” Christian told NPFLUpdates.
