Zlatan Ibrahimovich in a recent interview with English journalist Piers Morgan, opin s that retired footballers will be remembered for their talent, and not what they earned. And that is contracting an earlier opinion by a former Enyimba FC goalkeeper, John Noble, who has it that families wouldn’t mind where you played but what you achieved at the end of your career.
Noble snubbed a contract extension at Enyimba, and also a CAF Champions League football to join a newly promoted Tanzanian club Tabora United. According to the 30-year-old, football is a source of income for players, adding that Tabora United offered him thrice his then earning at the Nigerian club.
“Football is just about money. And knowing fully well that you’re not going to play forever,” he told Brila FM in an interview.
“When you’re offered three times your current wages, I think everyone will just joyfully have to make that move. We have families; and we have people looking up to us. And ay the end of the day, they don’t care where you play, but what you achieved.”
Speaking further he said, “I’ve played three years with Enyimba, and it was a fantastic experience with them. When I got the offer, and I looked and compared it with what I was receiving at Enyimba. I told myself I had to go to Tanzania. And see what I can do.”
The Super Eagles shot-stopper added, “Money is the reason why I came here, and time Waits for no man.”
