‘Wait For INEC Results’ Fans Mock Super Eagles After Guinea-Bissau Loss

Fans of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has mockingly told the players to wait for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the original result of their Guinea-Bissau clash.

Nigeria entertained the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau for the first leg of the AFCON qualifier matches on Friday evening.

And the match which was held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, saw the Super Eagles stunned by the visitors.

Guinea-Bissau forward, Mama Balde, struck in the 29th minute to give his side the lead.

He ran in between Nigeria center-backs Kevin Akpoguma and Calvin Bassey. And trapping a loop ball, slotted between the legs of uzoho into an empty net.

Efforts by the Super Eagles to restore parity in the first-half struck the rocks, as their opponents held their positions.

A couple of second half changes by Coach Jose Peseiro, couldn’t make any difference. Because as they were held at bay by the visitors who stood their grounds.

The loss meant that Super Eagles have lost five consecutive games for the first time in their history.

So, reacting, fans took to social media platforms mockingly charging the national team to invite INEC to confirm their result.

INEC was responsible for the recently concluded General Elections in Nigeria. INEC chairman post-election had asked aggrieved parties who dispute their election results to go to court and get judgement.

“Going to tribunal to contest this hard-pill-to-swallow result. Wish us luck,” Facebook user Aisosa E. Ighodaro said.

“INEC has the capacity to turn the result in favour of Super Eagles. Let us not lose hope yet,” another Facebook user Egwim Ifeanyi said.

Nzewi Kenechukwu Hudson expressing his anger said, “make una calm down, we are still waiting for the returning officers for the real result of the game. Please am begging you guys to have confidence in this process. Thank you all.”
