We’re Not Interested In Osimhen – Asante Kotoko

Ghana Premier League Champions Asante Kotoko has rubbished speculations linking the team with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen NPFL Updates reports.

Speculations Monday has it that Asante Sporting Club is preparing to launch an official bid for the Nigerian forward.

But, Osimhen being one of the hottest strikers in football at the moment is valued at €150 million by Napoli. A price which the Ghanian club may not part with.

Manchester United and Chelsea are Keen on securing the services of the 24-year-old who expressed his interest of playing in the EPL.

Osimhen is the current Serie A top goalscorer with 21 goals in 23 appearances for the Neapolitans.

And, the former Lille Olympique Sports Club forward, is the highest scoring African in a single Italian Serie A season.

Reacting to the speculations which has gone viral, a source close to the Kumasi-based club refuted the claims.

Asante Kotoko denies Osimhen’s interest:

“Osimhen? No. Asante Kotoko is not interested the last time I checked,” he told NPFL Updates correspondent Thursday morning.

“At the moment, Asante have not been it’s best. We need more players in the attacking department, but not Osimhen.”

“Our coach(Prosper Narteh) has not made mention of anything Osimhen to the club heirrachy. And I don’t know where the story emanated from,” he continued.

“If we are interested, an official bid will be discussed within before making it public. But, let me tell you, there are some local based players that can help us fight for the league. Osimhen wasn’t here when we won the championship last season.

“Please disregard any such report, it’s not official. We’ll successfully defend our title,” he rounded up saying.

Asante Kotoko before the international break is seated at the 5th position of the First Plus Capital Premier League.

Osimhen arrived Nigeria Wednesday morning ahead of the Super Eagles AFCON qualifier match against Guinea-Bissau.

Nigeria will welcome Guinea-Bissau at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Friday evening. The Super Eagles are top of their group with maximum 6 points from two games.
