The Super Falcons of Nigeria once again fails to reach a FIFA women’s World Cup quarter-final after losing to England’s Lionesses.
Last Monday, Nigeria crashed out of the ongoing FIFA women’s World Cup tournament in Australia and New Zealand following a loss at the hands of England’s Lionesses.

Despite being reduced to ten players, the Lionesses held their positions and forced Nigeria to a penalty shootout. And during the Shootout, the European champions emerged victorious, beating Nigeria 4-2 on penalties.
Interestingly, fans of the national team have heaped praises on the players. And urged them to gather themselves together and forge ahead because there’s still a lot left to be achieved.
“You’ve done us proud. England may have won and progressed, but you’ve won our hearts,” NPFLUpdates in-house analyst Mr Best said.
“Girls you don’t have to worry, nobody gave you any chance. But we’re now forced to swallow our own words. Big congratulations to you all,” Ikechukwu said.
However, while reacting to the outcome of the match, Prophetess Elizabeth, cited ‘stubborness’ of players and officials.
According to her, the Nigeria Football Federation and every other stakeholders, did not heed the voice of God.

“Stubbornness cost them(Super Falcons) the FIFA women’s World Cup title,” she said.

“The officials and all those involved, did not heed the voice of God. And today, everybody is suffering from it; it was unfortunate they lost out, but then the girls tried their best.”
She added, “A stubborn fly will always follow a corpse to the grave. Nigeria is for us, and Nigeria we all will serve.”
The ladies are now saddled with the responsibility of qualifying for the next year’s Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
