Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is optimistic that forward Victor Osimhen has the abilities of helping Nigeria win her fourth AFCON title npflupdates.com reports.

Victor Osimhen yesterday won his first UEFA Champions League Man-of-the-match (MOTM) award after a wonderful performance at SC Braga.
The Nigerian on two occasions came very close to finding the back of the net, but was initially denied by the crossbar. And secondly, he missed by the whiskers after shrugging off a tackle from a Braga player. A goal by Napoli Captain Di Lorenzo and an owngoal by opposition player ensured Napoli triumphed in Portugal.
Meanwhile, Jose Peseiro who in his short-term contract with the NFF was saddled with the responsibility of reaching the 2024 AFCON semi-finals, is now banking on Osimhen to him achieve the feat.
According to the Portuguese tactician, Osimhen finished the AFCON qualifiers with ten goals. The highest scored by any player in the qualifying series. And he hopes, Osimhen can replicate such form and help Nigeria win a fourth title.

“He (Osimhen) finished the qualifying series with 10 goals and is the top scorer,” Peseiro told Gazzetta dello Sport and was quoted by Punch Nigeria.

“Now we hope it will help us win the Africa Cup of Nations (in Ivory Coast). It was the usual Victor, happy and smiling, it’s a win-win for everyone.
“I was afraid he could come sad and instead I found him unleashed. He worked and showed beautiful things. He played fantastic games, scoring three goals against Sao Tome & Principe.”
Speaking further, the former Sporting CP coach, confessed being happy about Osimhen’s decision to extend his stay in Naples.
Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window was tempted with lucrative moves away from the Diego Maradona Stadium. Including a whopping $1 million per-week wage offer from Saudi Arabia outfit Al Hilal.
“But Victor is very happy in Napoli. For his growth path, staying in Europe and showing off in the Champions League remains the best way. He is young and has time to prove his talent,” Peseiro continued.

“Then I understand that in the face of certain offers one can waver: two seasons in Arabia are worth more than ten in Europe, but money is not everything. Victor has improved a lot in Italy,” he added.
