What Super Eagles needs to address before R16 games
Three important things can be taken away from the Super Eagles game against Guinea-Bissau. Which may if not properly treated my become a difficulty in their near future.
First, the national team’s attacking department have only been able to score just one goal from open play. A characteristic which portray both poor passes from the midfielders, and also poor finishing from the attackers.
Secondly, the three-time African champions, are defensive minded, leaving room for ball-playing opponents to dominate them. “Should Nigeria come across a team that plays possessive football, goal will rain,” NPFLUpdates in-house analyst Mr Best said Monday evening.
Finally, the national team is lacking the services of Captain Ahmed Musa, who has great skill in crossing balls into opposition box. With good passers of the ball in the flanks, there’d be more pressure on opponent defenders, which can in turn lead to goals.
In another story, winger Moses Simon revealed Nigeria is not afraid of any team as it charges towards a fourth AFCON glory.
“It was a good win for us. To make it from the group was a good one for us, “ Simon said during a post-match interaction with the media.
