The Super Eagles of Nigeria is having its training at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium Onikan, Lagos, ahead of the AFCON qualifier fixture against Sierra Leone.
The national team comprising of 23 players since last Monday have been training at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium. And the stadium recently harboured the NPFL Super Six, where Enyimba FC emerged winners of the NPFL 2022/2023 season.

And it’s no news that the stadium’s main bowl is made of an artificial turf. Training on such a turf, and on a match-day players get to play on a natural grass turf can be different sometimes.
And according to a Super Eagles’ player who pleaded anonymity, the team’s performances will be affected against Sierra Leone. Because, the synthetic turfs tends to affect passes, and also affects the muscles.
Super Eagles’ AFCON performances may drop against Sierra Leone
“It’s sad, but I must say that the team’s performances against the Lone Stars will likely be affected,” he told npflupdates.com.
“Playing on a synthetic turf is most professionals’ nightmare. Because, it not only affects the players individual performances, but also affects their body especially the muscular system.”
Speaking further, the player, highlighted the need for the team to secure all maximum points against Sierra Leone. And in his words, it’s “imperative” the team give their best on Sunday.

“Now the team is under pressure; because, Guinea-Bissau are now table toppers after Sao Tome and Principe win. And a draw against Sierra Leone will not be the best result for the Eagles. So, it’s imperative the best is given on Sunday,” he added.
The Super Eagles will look to reclaim it’s top spot by beating Sierra Leone. And based on reports in Nigeria media, the team is in high spirit, and confident of victory.
If Nigeria will do an AFCON qualifier double against Sierra Leone after beating them in Lagos last year remains unknown.
