Drogba Identify Super Eagles As Favourites To Win 2023 AFCON In Côte d’Ivoire

Ivory Coast and Chelsea football legend, Didier Drogba has identified Nigeria’s Super Eagles as one of the favourites to win the next edition of AFCON npflupdates.com reports.

Didier Drogba was one of the participants in the draw for the 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON), which was conducted in Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire capital, Few weeks ago.

After the draw, Nigeria was seeded in the same Group A as the host nation Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. The three-time African champions, will hope to progress from the first round into the Knockout stages, as they charge for a fourth title.

Speaking in an interview recently, Drogba, stressed that the Group A is a very tough one; however, he’s upbeat that Ivory Coast has what it takes to qualify for the knockout stages.

According to the former Olympique Marseille forward, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are one of the favourites, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau also would want to stand and be counted; thus making it a difficult group.

“I think that Côte d’Ivoire has every chance of getting out of this group. It is indeed tough with the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are still the favourites of the competition,” he said as reported by Owngoal Nigeria.

“We have Guinea (Equatorial Guinea) and Guinea-Bissau which will sell their skin dearly.”

Speaking further, Drogba who defeated Nigeria in the 2006 edition of AFCON to reach the final, highlighted the role, their fans will play to ensure a smooth outing for the host.

“It’s going to be a tough field but it’s the Ivory Coast which hosts, which organises. The Ivorian public will be there to galvanize the team,”he added.
