A former Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba has confessed Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen as his favourite player at the moment, snubbing superstars in Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe npflupdates.com reports.
Drogba made the Victor Osimhen assertion at an award ceremony in France recently. Osimhen and Drogba share some striking similarities as forwards, with both players using their strength and body-balance to bully opposition defenders.

In his days, the 45-year-old Didier Drogba, scored a total of 302 career club goal. And at the moment, the Nigerian forward sits at 105 goals.

During the quick-fire session with Sports Illustrated, Drogba who chose Frank Lampard ahead if Mikel Obi as his closest player during his days, was also asked to name his favourite active player at the moment and he answered without any hesitation, “Victor Osimhen.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with the Nigerian Football Federation in 2022, Victor Osimhen had confessed looking up to the Ivorian while growing up.
“My childhood idol is Didier Drogba. The goal moment I cherished was when I scored against Chelsea,” he said. Osimhen while playing for Olympique Lille scored against the London-based club in a UEFA Champions League fixture at the Stamford Bridge.
“The feeling was special because I know a lot of my friends that are Chelsea fans, and before the game, they texted me that they don’t care if Chelsea wins, as long as I scored,” he continued.
“They wanted me to actualise my dream and that’s one of the best moments in my career,” the 24-year-old added.

Osimhen finished as the highest goalscorer in the Italian Serie A last season with 26 goals. And also helped Napoli win its first ever Scudetto title in more than three decades.
Also he was awarded Serie A best striker for the 2022/2023 season; and also as the best foreign player on Italy.
