Super Eagles player Alex Iwobi has opened up on how he tried talking Eberechi Eze into playing for Nigeria.
Recently, Eberechi Eze, snubbed a suggestion to play for Nigeria; and has been called up to the English national team.
And the 24-year-old is expected to make his England debut on Friday, when England entertain Malta.
Eze endured a rough begining to his football career. Because, in the past, he’s had spells at Arsenal, Reading, Fulham and Millwall. But then as an 18-year-old, he was without a professional contract. But luckily, he was brought to the attention of Chris Ramsey, a technical director at QPR.
Eberechi Eze is coachable, QPR’s Technical Director
“He was coachable and a very approachable person and willing to listen,” Ramsey explains as per BBC report.
“Not always able to execute, because he was learning at the time, but he was willing to listen and work hard.
“It was a team effort really, Paul Hall, Andy Impey and myself looked at it and decided he was worthy of a one-year deal. Between the three of us, we clicked with him and his personality.

“He also had [QPR’s director of football] Les Ferdinand to lean on, who could give him some advice and made sure the first team were keeping to the plan which we were brought in to do, which was to get youngsters nearer to the first team.”
And shortly after joining the Eagles, Eze fought his way to the top. Also, last season he ended up as Crystal Palace’s top goalscorer with ten goals.
And in his revelation, Iwobi, said Eze never had the opportunity to play for Nigeria. Also, the Everton FC playmaker wished him well in England colours.
“I spoke to Ebere Eze to try and come but then obviously he’s never had the opportunity to come but I wish him all the best with England as well,” Iwobi said on Brila FM.
