Alex Iwobi Explains Why Dele Alli Failed To Impress At Everton

Super Eagles and Everton FC midfielder Alex Iwobi, has given the reason behind Dele Alli’s poor run at Everton npflupdates reports.

Alex Iwobi and Alli apart from being Nigerian descents shared the dressing room together at the Goodison Park.

And during that time, Iwobi is a regular at the club while Alli always starts from the bench. Alli made a total of 13 appearances for the Merseyside club. And during those times, he had no goal nor assist.

And the Englishman’s poor form led to him being loaned out to Turkish giants, Besiktas JK. Even at Besiktas JK, Alli failed to live up to expectations, as we was relegated to the bench. And at a point, the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker, was asked to distance himself from the club’s matches, as he’d watch remaining Super Lig matches from the stands.

Many football supporters attributed Alli’s poor form to luxurious lifestyles and stubborn behaviours. But, his close friend and colleague, Alex Iwobi is of a different opinion.

According to Alex Iwobi, Alli is not a training type of player. And will not take training serious unless it’s match-days.

“With him (Alli), he will say it himself, he isn’t a training player. Unless it’s a match in training and then you see Dele perform,” Iwobi told FilthyFellas an was quoted by The PUNCH Nigeria.

“When it comes to training matches, he is a joke. When it comes to drills – he tries, but because he’s slow with it. And when it comes to games, he will score and assist or something.

“It was hard for him to play. If you’re not just doing it in training, and at the time, the manager needed reliable players.

“He (Lampard) couldn’t really put his trust in him. We all know Dele could have performed,” added Iwobi.

Alli is expected to be back at Everton after his loan spell at Besiktas JK elapsed. And according to sources, the 27-year-old may be sold this summer.

Iwobi last season survived relegation to the Skybet Championship by the whiskers by winning the match-day 38 fixture.
