Eze Ekwutoziam appreciates Enyimba fans after Akwa United win.

Enyimba FC playmaker Eze Ekwutoziam has opened up on why the reigning Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL, champions overcame a star-studded Akwa United team last weekend npflupdates.com reports.

Eze was in action when Enyimba defeated the former NPFL champions at the Enyimba International stadium on Sunday to secure its first ever win in the 2023/2024 NPFL season.

Enyimba and Akwa United approached the game with both seeking for its first victory of the season. However, the former CAF Champions League winners stood their grounds to secure its first win in front of their home fans.

Speaking to the media after match, Eze who’s an integral part of the Finidi George’s side, attributed the win to the support of the fans.

According to the lucrative player, Akwa United isn’t a small club, and of course the game against them wasn’t an easy one as well.

“Thank you to all of Enyimba fans across the globe, thank you for the support and the courage,” he told the club’s media.

“It wasn’t an easy fight but we give God the glory for the maximum points.”

Enyimba currently occupy the 15th position on the Nigeria Premier Football League table, with one win in two games. The Aba-based club will hope to maintain its winning run when they exchange tackles with Doma United this weekend.
