A former highest goalscorer in the Nigeria Premier League Football, NPFL, Chijioke Akuneto, has agreed to terms and joined Enyimba FC for the remainder of the season, NPFL Updates understands.
Chijioke scored 19 goals in 36 matches last season to win the Euinsell Golden Boot signed for Enyimba.
Reports has it that the ferocious striker characterized by speed and eye-for-goal initially refused to sign an extension. Because some European clubs expressed interest in his services.
And Just when there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel based on the move to Europe; he decided to stay in active football with Enyimba until the end of the season.

Recall the NPFL being operated in an abridged format is currently on a mid-season break due to the general Elections going on in Nigeria.
Chijioke Akuneto Will Be Unveiled At Enyimba:
The former Heartland FC forward will be unveiled in the coming days. He is expected to join his teammates in camp ahead of the restart of the season, as they battle to win the league title.
In revealing some facts which was not known about the 25-year-old. NPFLUpdates can reveal that Chijioke Akuneto was invited by the national team for a CHAN qualification bout. He came up against the Black Galaxies of Ghana in July 2022.
Nigeria suffered a shocking 3-1 defeat away from home, and Chijioke failed to live up to expectations.
However, in the returning fixture at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, Chijioke fired on the 94th minute. That was his first ever goal in the Nigeria’s shirt, helping the team to complete a 2-0.
Chijioke is married to the love of his life, Temitope, whom he had some lovely kids with.
Sadly, he lost of one his kid back in 2019. And that was few hours before a match for Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC.
