AFCON U-20: Flying Eagles Receive Lucrative National Award In Egypt

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Sunday evening received another lucrative national award from the Nigeria Ambassador to Egypt after AFCON U-20 tournament.

The flying Eagles Friday last weekend achieved a podium finish at the just concluded AFCON U-20 tournament. The team ran rampage on the Junior Carthage Eagles of Tunisia to win the Bronze medal.

First half goal from skillful winger, Ibrahim Muhammad, ensured the national team took the lead at half-time. Early second-half goals from Ahmed Abdulahi, and Jude Sunday gave Nigeria a comfortable lead. And with just minutes to stoppage time, Sunday completed his brace and iced the cake.

The Ladan Bosso boys until Sunday evening were presented with the bronze medal by CAF; the boys were joined by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau during their celebration in Cairo.

In a bid to further reward the boys for making the country proud, and also at the same time charging them to do more at the upcoming FIFA U-20 W’Cup tournament in Indonesia, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Nura Abba Rimi, presented the boys with a plaque. The presentation was done at the ambassador’s office in Cairo.

A picture that surfaced online last Sunday, showed the moment the top dignitary was in company of the boys and their coaching crew. And that was shortly before the plaque was handed over to them.

A total of twenty-one players and ten officials received the national award.

The team is expected to return to Nigeria in the coming days. And according to reports they would be treated to a presidential banquet by the presidency.

In addition, Coach Isah Ladan Bosso, has untill April 10 to submit his official provisional squad list to FIFA. This is one of the mandatory steps head of the FIFA U-20 W’Cup tournament.
