I’ll Always Be At The National Team – Ahmed Musa

Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa has revealed his intentions towards the Super Eagles as it concerns national call-up NPFLUpdates reports.

The invitation of Ahmed Musa to the national team for the AFCON qualifier double-header fixtures against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau sparked a lot of reactions from fans.

Musa has dropped form in front of goal, enduring a very long goal drought in the Turkish Super Lig. This season he has featured 13 times in the Turkish top-flight for Sivasspor, without recording any goal. Most times he started from the bench.

The philanthropic athlete reacting to the outburst from Nigerians, said it’s always an honour for any player to represent his country whenever he was called upon.

He said it is only men of goodwill that can do what they’ve been doing for the country over the years. Being able to answer the clarion call whenever it comes through.

According to the 30-year-old former Leicester City winger, he doesn’t have to listen to anybody once the Nigeria call comes through. And he confirmed he’s just doing his job, and will continue doing it well.

What Musa said about Super Eagles:

“Definitely we will honour our country, no matter what, whoever they called, they have to come,” the former CSKA Moscow winger said in a pre-match press conference.

“I do not have to listen to anyone. Because I’m the one doing my job, if my coach do want me to stop, I will stop. I am playing always for my club. Why do you want me to stay at the national team.”

The Super Eagles’ World Cup hero, reiterated that it’s only his coach that can stop him from the team. According to him, if the coach stops calling him, he will stop coming.

“If the coach(Jose Peseiro) do not want to call me anymore, then I will stop. But the coach always want me to be in the national team, I will always honour that,” he concluded saying.
