Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has opened up on why he invited team Captain Ahmed Musa for the game against Sierra Leone.
Nigeria will take on the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Sunday in an AFCON qualifier fixture. And that will be second leg of the first fixture which ended in favour of the Eagles.
Last week, Jose Peseiro released his squad list for the penultimate fixture. And it generated a lot of negative reactions due to the inclusion of some players, who fans thought would not make the squad due to their poor form. And some of those players are Ahmed Musa, Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo.
Musa endured a lack of game time for his Turkish side, Sivasspor last season. Always making cameo appearances on match days. Also, the Super Eagles winger, is yet to score a League goal in more than eleven months.
And on the other hand, Aribo endured a difficult life with relegated Southampton. He lacked game time, and at some point was speculated to have been relegated to the reserve team. Many fans cried could following his invitations to the national team.
Wilfred Ndidi, one of the most combative Super Eagles midfielder since his emergence to professional football. However, last season, he couldn’t be at his best due to injuries and other setbacks. And shockingly, he didn’t help his club Leicester City avoid relegation. And many fans had thought, he would be replaced by Raphael Onyedika.
