“Match-Rusty” Francis Uzoho In S’Eagles Squad For Saudi Arabia Friendly: Analyst Reacts

Omonia Nicosia shot-stopper Francis Uzoho, is included in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendly between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia later this month npflupdates.com reports.

Francis Uzoho has established himself as the Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper since the AFCON tournament in Egypt in 2019. He has been doing a lot of big things for Nigeria, including helping the team reach a Round of 16 stage at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Uzoho has enjoyed a lucrative career having played in the Spain for Deporrivo La Coruna. Currently, he’s contracted with former Cypriot Champions Omonia Nicosia.

According to stats, the 24-year-old Nigerian, is yet to start a competitive game for the Cypriot side in over ten matches. A situation which many Nigerians are not finding funny, hence questioning his continuous invitation to the national team.

“Francis(Uzoho), is a good goalkeeper no doubt, but to not to have played for your club in over ten matches makes me worry,” NPFLUpdates in-house Analyst Mr. Best said.

“For me, his invitation to the national team needs to be questioned. You cannot be match-rusty and still hope for a place in the Super Eagles. For goodness sake, this is not obtainable in any serious country across the world.”

“Yes I know, the choice for his invitation is the coach’s, but, at this point, it’s a no for me,” he added.

In a related story, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, has been handed his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles.

The youngster is a midfield dynamo, plying his trade in the Turkish Super Lig for Hatayaspor. As a midfielder, he’s scores twice in his last five games for the Turkish club, and four in seven Super Lig games this season.

Born in Germany but raised in England, Fisayo joined Manchester City at the age of 8. He however, moved to Sheffield Wednesday in July 2020, signing for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old who’s a brother to another Nigerian international Ayotomiwa Dele-Bashiru, is expected to provide more option for coach Jose Peseiro.
