Michael Essien : I’m Not Interested In Ghana, Nigeria

A former Black Stars Midfielder Michael Essien has denied having interest in the coaching the Ghana’s national team npflupdates reports.

The former Chelsea midfielder made this known during an interactive session with journalist Lolade Adewuyi.

According to Adewuyi, Essien is eligible to coach any African team of his choice if presented with the opportunity.

And Michael Essien is currently a coach at a Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjælland . Because recently got his UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth Coach Licenses.

And announcing the lack of interest of the Ghanian in the Black Stars coaching job, Mr. Lolade made a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.

“On my way to Naples, had a long layover in Denmark where I met a legend of the game, Michael Essien. He’s now a coach at FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga. He recently got his UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth Coach licenses. Future Black Stars coach? He said not interested.”

Also according to Mr. Lolade, Michael Essien is one of those African football stars finding their way into coaching roles. And especially in European clubs.

Recalling his first encounter with the UEFA Champions League winner, Mr. Lolade, explained that Essien is a humble personality.

“I first met Michael in 2007 in Accra when he and Didier Drogba came to the CAF African Player of the Year awards. As a young journalist, only in my second year of practice. I was enamoured by both of them. Michael has always been a reserved person.

“And so his decision to stay in football, and out of limelight is very interesting. But coaching roles will bring their fame when you hit the head coach position.

“Wishing you all the best, Michael. We need more African players to take on managerial roles in European football.”

In his time, Michael Essien played in top European leagues, French Ligue 1, Spanish La Liga, English Premier League. And also in the Azerbaijani league; and of course in the Danish Superliga.
