Mikel Obi Shares Stunning Experience About His Chelsea’s Best Game

A former Super Eagles combative midfielder John Mikel Obi, has opened up on his best game ever as a Chelsea FC player npflupdates.com reports.

Mikel Obi spent over a decade at Chelsea after joining the London-based outfit from Lyn in the Norwegian Eliteserien.

Mikel as a Chelsea player won a lot of titles including a UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League title, English FA Cup and a UEFA Europa League title.

According to the Olympics bronze medalist, in all of his matches in the Blue colours of Chelsea, the UEFA Champions League final in 2012/2013 season was his best.

Chelsea defied all odds in its way to win its first ever UCL, in an intense match at the Allianz Arena against a star-studded and in-form FC Bayern Munchen.

Mikel started and played the entire duration of the fixture, including the extra time as the match was decided by penalty shootouts.

“My best-ever game [Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League final against Bayern],” Mikel was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying.

According to 2013 AFCON winner, his performance in the match is enough to earn him a Man-of-the-match (MOTM) award; but then Didier Drogba was exceptional and won it.

The former Stoke City’s midfielder confessed to re-watching the encounter a couple of times some years after.

I should have won the man of the match but Didier [Drogba] obviously came good and saved the day. I have watched that game a few times since.

“There is nothing better than this,” he added.

In a related development, Mikel Obi confessed his admiration for Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen.

The former Super Eagles Captain, opined it will make a lot of sense, if Chelsea can go all out and bring the 26-year-old to the Stamford Bridge.

“I think when I look back at him a few years ago, i’d say no, but now, watching him last season and watching him this season, I would say definitely,” Mikel told the ObiOne Podcast.

 “He would come into the Premier League and slot right in. He will get you goals, he will run behind defenders, he will stretch the team.

“I think that’s what probably a lot of the teams now in the Premier League are looking for; a striker who wants to run behind the defenders because then it helps the team, and i hope he comes to Chelsea” Mikel said.
