Super Eagles player Kenneth Omeruo joins Turkish club from Spain

Super Eagles assistant Captain Kenneth Omeruo has expressed confidence in the current crop of players in the national team npflupdates.com reports.

Kenneth Omeruo is currently with the Super Eagles squad in Portugal training ahead of Saudi Arabia and Mozambique international friendlies tomorrow and next Monday respectively.

The Super Eagles have qualified for the next edition of the AFCON that will hold in Ivory Coast in January 2024. And the team have witnessed influx of new talented players, like Victor Boniface, Jordan Torunarigha and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (all haven’t been with Nigeria at any major tournament.)

Kenneth Omeruo described the Eagles team as a “blend of old and wise heads and exciting new talents” with a winning mentality.

According to the former Chelsea defender, the players have the capacity and, are also ambitious.

What Kenneth Omeruo said about the Super Eagles AFCON ambition

“I look around, and I see players who have the capacity to make it happen. We are all ambitious,” he said.

“The team is a blend of old and wise heads and exciting new talents. We will go for the trophy in Cote d’Ivoire.”

Meanwhile, another assistant Captain, and PAOK defender, William Troost-Ekong said the “Let’s Do It Again” mantra was adopted because “it gives us confidence and the go-go push”.

“We like the phrase because it gives us confidence and the go-go push,” the defender said.

“We have done it before, so we can do it again. Winning the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire is our goal, and we have the team to do just that,” Ekong said.

The 34th edition of AFCON is billed to be held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024. Nigeria is seeking to win its fourth title after failing at the last edition in Cameroon; and also return to its African dominance.
