Musa : There Will Be Pressure In 2023 AFCON Finals Against Cote d’Ivoire

Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa, remains upbeat the three-time African champions have what it takes to win a fourth title; npflupdates.com reports.

Musa told reporters on Saturday afternoon during a pre-match press conference, that there’s nothing very special about the upcoming final against Ivory Coast.

Recall Musa was part of the Super Eagles squad that won Nigeria’s last AFCON title in 2013.

What Musa said about the 2023 AFCON final:

The former CSKA Moscow winger, told reporters that pressure is bound to be in the match, but his teammates are trained to handle and cope with pressures when push comes to shove.

“There is nothing special about this game (the #TotalEnergiesAFCON2023    final). There will be pressure. But we just have to focus and play our game,” the former Leicester City playmaker was quoted by British journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

Musa despite being the most capped individual in the Super Eagles squad is yet to feature in any of the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

However, it’s no doubt that the Sivasspor winger is a source of motivation to the younger players in the team. He has been caught on camera on several occasions supporting and issuing out instructions to his teammates from the sidelines.

Most times, he links up with coach José Peseiro to discuss one or two tactics which is for the betterment of the team.

According to the former Sporting CP gaffer, Ivory Coast are the favourites to win the AFCON. He however, reiterates his initial stand of wanting to help Nigeria win a fourth AFCON title.

“Congratulations to Cote d’Ivoire for reaching the final, they are the favourite, but we want to win the AFCON,” Peseiro told the media during a pre-match presser.

Providing injury update on defender Zaidu Sanusi, Peseiro, pointed that a late fitness test will be conducted later today.

And only then can he be able to give a concrete statement on the availability of the FC Porto man.

“Sanusi Zaidu had condition training yesterday, we will have the last training session today and we will check him if he will be available,” he said.
