The Nigeria Football Federation NFF, confirms the withdrawal of Mauritius women’s U-20 team ahead of a FIFA world cup qualifier npflupdates.com reports.

Mauritius women’s U-20 national team has withdrawn from the FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifier match against Nigeria. The NFF also confirmed that Nigeria’s Falconets (U-20 women) have progressed into the throd round of the qualifier.
Mauritius versus Nigeria first leg fixture before the withdrawal of the team was slated for October 8, 2023. But will no longer hold, following the withdrawal of the team. Reasons for the withdrawal of the Mauritius team, wasn’t highlighted by the Nigeria’s football governing body.
The next world cup which will be held in Colombia in 2024, will see present Nigeria with an opportunity of winning it’s first U-20 World Cup title.

NFF confirm Falconets qualification to third round of FIFA U-20 qualifier.
“Falconets progress to third round as Mauritius withdraw,” the NFF said in a post on its verified X handle (formerly Twitter).
“Mauritius have withdrawn from next week’s #FWWCU20 qualifier against the 🇳🇬Falconets.
“This means Nigeria have now progressed to the next round of qualifiers.”

This is the second time in a row a Nigerian national football team in women’s category will witness opponent’s withdrawal ahead of a qualifier.

Previously, Sao Tome and Principe’s women withdrew from a Women’s African Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier fixture against the Super Falcons.
In a related development, coach Musa Danjuma has been reinstated as the Falconets head coach after a screening exercise by the NFF committee.
