Top Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, clubs are considering a move for Odion Ighalo npflupdates reports.

Ighalo was recently released by Saudi King’s Cup Champions, Al Hilal after his contract’s expiration. And at the moment, the former Manchester United forward is a free agent.

Ighalo joined Al Hilal from Saudi Arabia league outfit Al Shabab in 2022. And has since then helped the team win laurels. Since joining, he has helped the team win the Saudi Professional Football League title. And also helped them reach a FIFA Club World Cup final, where they won silver medal.

The striker also finished his first season as the league’s top scorer with 24 goals.

And in the just concluded season, Odion Ighalo contributed 19 goals although Al Hilal failed to successfully defend their title.

Also in the previous season, he won the Kings Cup with the Blue Waves. And that was his last laurel with the former champions.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal have thanked the forward for his successful stint with them.

And since the news of his release was made public, NPFL clubs are already making a move. Meanwhile, Ighalo has in the past given reasons as to why he may return to the NPFL and retire.

According to the former Watford striker, if enough money and security is provided, many Nigerians abroad will like to return.

“Our players abroad can come back to Nigeria but security must be improved upon,” Ighalo was quoted by Leadership  Nigeria.

“The League (Nigerian Premier Football League) must be well organized. A lot of money will be pumped into the game and matches should be on television.”

Ighalo if he decides to switch to the NPFL, is not the only player to have played abroad and made a return. The likes of Ahmed Musa, Ifeanyi Anaemena and Junior Lokosa have all returned for a second stint in the NPFL.
