Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has thrown his full weight behind embattled coach Jose Peseiro npflupdates.com reports.
Since the expiration of Peseiro’s contract last month, speculations have spread he may not be continuing as Super Eagles’ coach.
With Peseiro at the helm of affairs in the national team, they’ve witnessed their worst run in history. Losing four consecutive matches and scoring less than three goals in all.
However, the Portuguese tactician has helped the national team qualify for the next edition of the AFCON. But whether or not he will continue as the coach remains unknown, with speculations saying he’s done for.

Last month, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, through its President Ibrahim Gusau, hinted that the fate of the Portuguese will be decided by the fans and football pundits. And since the announcement, nothing much has been heard as per the poll.
Recall npflupdates reported that Peseiro retains position as Super Eagles’ head coach but will now have to take Nigeria to the semi-final of the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
And now, Victor Osimhen, who’s been in Nigeria for his vacation, has weighed in on the debate of whether Peseiro should leave or remain.
According to Osimhen, the former Sporting CP coach, is “tactically sound” and is capable of controlling the Super Eagles squad.
The Italian Serie A highest goalscorer, admitted that Peseiro has been able to assemble a “great” squad.

“The coach is tactically sound. And he is in control of the Super Eagles squad which is very very important,” he told Wazobia FM and was s quoted by Owngoal Nigeria.
“We have a great squad to do well, I’m proud of the team. We fight for the team(Nigeria) because it’s a privilege to play for Nigeria.”
