Nigeria was held to a goalless draw at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, on 23 March. But the former Olympic men’s football champions, suffered a humiliating defeat in Morocco in the return leg

Led by Salisu Yusuf, the team couldn’t put on foot right and qualify for AFCON. Because it paraded low-performing players at the level.

However, they still stand a chance of progressing if Guinea will be disqualified for fielding overaged players in the game.

“It’s a concern and a big issue in Guinea as we speak. Of course, Nigeria have a solid case because the records in public domain suggests he altered his age to be eligible for this level,” a Guinean journalist told OwngoalNigeria.

Looking at the games, one of the foreign-based players who craved anonymity confirmed their coaches lacked Ideas to win big matches.

Olympic Eagles coaches lacked ideas to win big matches:

“We lost due to poor tactics. Especially as we went into the game with no knowledge of our opponents,” he said to OwngoalNigeria.

“The first game we had them to finish, but we started with a poor lineup. Finished with a desperate calss to save something from the game.

“I have never seen coaches with no idea of how to win like Yusuf and his assistant Boboye.”

Speaking further, the player cried that Nigeria approaches the game like it was a friendly. According to him, the team was selected to play and win like it wasn’t anything serious.

“For me who plays on Europe and know how we prepare for games. It was shocking that we approached this game like a friendly game. No specific instructions on how to play.

” We were just selected to play and win like that. It was chaos. The moment the coach made two substitutios after 30 minutes, we knew we are in trouble.

“I have never seen coaches like that. I repeat,” he concluded saying.
