Super Eagles head coach José Peseiro, goes spiritual ahead of Nigeria’s blockbuster clash with Ivory Coast on Thursday(tomorrow) npflupdates.com reports.
The Super Eagles will play it’s 2023 AFCON Matchday 2 against Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday; and coach Peseiro is appealing to God for his divine intervention.

Nigeria will hope to end its three match(competitive) winless run against 2023 AFCON host Ivory Coast. The three-time African champions, are currently seeded in the third position on the Group A table.
And to ensure their charge towards a fourth AFCON title is realistic, the 2013 AFCON winner must at least earn a draw against the Elephants.
What José Peseiro said about the Ivory Coast game on Thursday
Reacting to his side’s preparation ahead of the game, Peseiro revealed all preparations have been made. And at the same time appealed for God’s gift of victory.
“Like I said earlier, God gives, God takes. We can only create the chances to score and hope God gives us this match against Cote D’Iviore,” the former Venezuela coach said.
” It is the right time for God to give us,” he added.
In another story, it can be confirmed that combative midfielder Alhassan Yusuf will be missing in action on Thursday.
According to Peseiro, there was an improvement on the players assessment yesterday; but he wouldn’t be available for selection as a precautionary measure.
“We had good news on him yesterday, but he is not available for tomorrow, maybe next game,” the 63-year-old said.
Reacting to Sadiq Umar’s injury controversy, the former Sporting CP gaffer expressed excitement with the level of his recovery.
“I am confused as well, our team doctor said he would be out for 15 days. We called the Club and the club requested he return immediately.

We held a meeting with him, and it was the last day to replace a player. So we replaced him,” he said.
