Popular Coach Kennedy Boboye Joins Heartland FC In Owerri

Former Akwa United coach Kennedy Boboye is now the official head coach of newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Heartland FC npflupdates.com reports.

Heartland signed Kennedy Boboye after sacking coach Christian Obi who helped won the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season and helped the team gain promotion to the NPFL.

Obi had failed to help the former NPFL winners secure a win in nine outings this season. The club currently occupies the 20th position on the table with six points from a possible twenty-seven.

In a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Owerri-based club, the club expressed it’s happiness following the arrival of the former Plateau United boss.

“We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with two-time NPFL winning coach Kennedy Boboye,” reads a statement on the club’s X handle.

According to Heartland Officials, Kennedy Boboye will remain at the club for the next one year; and will also get another if he improves and impresses the hierarchy.

“He takes charge of the club’s technical team with immediate effect on a 1-year deal with an option of a renewal.”

In another story, Super Falcons defender, Onome Ebi has called for a mamximum support for the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles came under-fire after failing to win any of its last two 2026 FIFA world cup qualifier fixtures against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

“It’s really sad to know that we have the best players in the world, but it is difficult to win games convincingly these days. It is really sad,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

“We need that full support and enough of all this calling out players, insulting, and discouraging them after a bad game.
