NPFL Updates in-house analyst Mr Best, has told the media what he claimed was the main reason why Ahmed Musa made the Super Eagles list for Guinea-Bissau clash.
Recall, NPFL Updates through one its media outlets announced the inclusion of low-performing Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa in the national squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifier.
Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro caused a lot of debate with his decision to include the former VV Venlo winger, Paul Onuachu, Joe Aribo and Wilfred Ndidi in the list of players for Guinea-Bissau clash.
According to Mr. Best, the inclusion of Ahmed Musa is simply because he is the team Captain.
Also Musa has a big influence, and can trigger a negation between the NFF board and players over unpaid salaries and bonuses.

Musa will initiate stability in the AFCON qualifier squad:
“Don’t forget, Ahmed Musa is the current team Captain. Ekong is deputizing him,$ Mr Best said during a interactive session Monday evening.
“Once he’s fit and available, he is entitled to the privilege. He can be a source of morale boost for some of he newly invited players.”
“In addition to that, let us not forget that Ahmed is a very influential personality. We’ve heard recently that most indigenous coaches of the senior national team are being owed a backlog of salaries and match bonuses,” he continued.
“And, he can with his influence trigger an over-the-table negotiation between the players and the NFF board. Because, some of the players and coaches are yet to be paid salaries and bonuses.
“This is also an opportunity for him to discuss with NFF board concerning the case of Goalkeeper John Noble. You know Noble has been owed AFCON allowances since 2021.”
The full list of Super Eagles Squad include: Francis Uzoho, Victor Sochima, Chijioke Aniagboso, Kenneth Omeruo, Kevin Akpoguma, Zaidu Sanusi. Calvin Bassey, Daniel Bameyi, Osayi-Bright Samuel, Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Terem Moffi. Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa, Bruno Onyemaechi,
I agree with everything else but the part where he says “he is entitled to the privilege” simply because he is the captain. That is a horrible idea, he has to work and fight for a spot like everyone else
