Rema, Osimhen Make Big History At The Ballon d’Or Award Ceremony

Award-winning Afrobeat singer, songwriter and Mavin records signee Rema, along with Super Eagles player Victor Osimhen achieved great feats at the 2023 Ballon d’Or award npflupdates.com reports.

While Rema thrilled the audience at the venue for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award ceremony, Victor Osimhen was ranked on the 8th position in the award rankings.

Rema thrill audience in France

With his performance at the football gala, Rema became the first Nigerian singer to perform at Ballon d’Or award ceremony since it’s inception many decades ago. The young singer, thrilled his audience with his globally recognised hot singles ‘Calm Down’.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen achieved the highest finish any Nigerian has enjoyed in the Ballon d’Or Ranking. The Napoli forward is the highest ranked Nigerian since the inception of the award. Some Nigerian footballers(eg Sunday Oliseh, Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha, Emmanuel Amunike etc) have in the past been nominated for the annual ceremony, big none has finished in the top ten.

Other African players that ranked closest to Victor Osimhen are Egypt’s Mohammed Salah, who was ranked 11th. Yassine Bouno and Manchester United’s Andre Onana who were ranked respectively.
