Sao Tome and Principe assistant coach William Barbosa has give reasons why his side lost embarrassingly to Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Sunday npflupdates.com reports.
Sao Tome lost embarrassingly 6-0 to Nigeria in a dead-rubber AFCON qualifier fixture in Uyo. A hat-trick from Napoli’s Victor Osimhen ensured the hosts had a flawless victory against their opponent.

Also, goals from Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze, and Taiwo Awoniyi ensured a comfortable win for the Green and White colour shirts
And while addressing the media after the game, William explained sole of the reasons why the team lost to Nigeria. According to the tactician, the team had a younger players; and also did not have enough training before the match.
However, William admitted that Super Eagles’ game is not what they expected; but is upbeat they’ll one good in the nearby future.

“Today’s match is not good, the first time five players reported,” William Barbosa was quoted by Vanguard Nigeria.
Based on his statement, his team “got only two training.” And “two training is not good for this match.”
On the other hand, Nigeria’s Jose Peseiro highlights that his boys were dedicated and played with maximum commitment.
According to the former Sporting CP manager, the match was a success, thanks to the good indigenous people and government of AkwaIbom state.
“I’ll like to say congratulations to the people and Government of Akwa Ibom because I see today was a fantastic atmosphere.
“The fans were fantastic today, I say thank you. I like the people here, everything provided for us was good,” Peseiro said.
“Our players played with maximum commitment.” And speaking further, the Portuguese stressed that the players want to play for him.
In his words, he “assembled them to win AFCON Cup; and today they have shown good commitment in their play.”
“Normally if you play against a team that is not strong everybody relax, but today they did not relax. It is fantastic game by the players, 6-0 is very good,” Peseiro said.
Meanwhile, Captain of the team in the match, Wilfred Ndidi, agreed that a comfortable win is a source of motivation. And will go a long way in helping the team prepare for bigger competitions.
According to the Leicester City’s midfielder, the score line will motivate them in future competitions. Especially now that they will be preparing for the World Cup qualifier.
“Of course when you win a game it gives you more confidence,” he said.
