Super Eagles Eligible Disappointed For Not Making England National Team

Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke expresses dissatisfaction for not making England’s Three Lions during the last international break; npflupdates.com reports.

Dominic Solanke born and raised in England but with a Nigerian ancestry as much as he’s eligible to play for England; is also eligible to be a member of the Super Eagles.

But it seems the former Liverpool forward who earned his first England cap in 2017 is more interested in the former world champions.

Over the years, players(Kevin Akpoguma, Ademola Lookman, Nathan Tella, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Cyriel Dessers, Alex Iwobi amongst others) of Nigerian descent who were born and raised abroad have chosen the Super Eagles.

And despite being the second highest goalscorer in the English Premier League EPL, with 16 goals(behind Erling Haaland 18) Solanke wasn’t considered by Three Lions’ gaffer Gareth Southgate.

Discussing being snubbed by Southgate, Solanke told Sky Sports and was quoted by Daily Echo: “I was disappointed.

“I feel like I’ve had a great season so far.

“Obviously playing for your country is a dream for everyone, so it’s something I wanted to be a part of and didn’t quite manage

“But hopefully if I just keep doing what I’m doing, I can get that chance soon.”

When asked if he still feels like the door is open ahead of this summer’s European Championship, Solanke added:

“Who knows? I’m doing everything I can right now.

“Hopefully if I can just carry on doing what I’m doing, who knows?”

Meanwhile, Solanke’s teammate Adam Smith expressed shock the 26-year-old didn’t make the squad.

“I don’t really understand why he isn’t in he England squad.

“Maybe because he plays for little old Bournemouth.”

Speaking on whether his choice of club is affecting his chances of a call-up, the Super Eagles eligible replied: “I’m not sure, to be fair.

“Obviously it’s the manager’s decision, what he does.

“But I feel like I’m doing everything I can.

“I just need to keep scoring and hopefully I can get that chance to prove myself.”
