A Flying Eagles coach, Fatai Amoo, has confirmed that pressure at the FIFA world cup can affect the national team.
Fatai Amoo revealed this when he during an interview with Nigerian media outlet FootballLive Nigeria.
The Flying Eagles will travel to Argentina for the FIFA U-20 World Cup coming up later this year. And the tournament which will hold between 20 May and 11 June will see Nigeria compete against the world’s bests.

“The big stage will pose either fear or motivation for the players,” the Flying Eagles Coach told Football Live Nigeria.
And according to the experienced tactician, the World Cup is a tournament where good players showcase themselves. But, while many are good with the pressure, some will fidget.
So, Mr. Fatai, cried over the importance of players to be psychologically sound. Because, football is not only about physical training and activities alone.
Pressure May Affect Eagles World Cup Performances
“It is always a question of some players living up to expectations while some may fidget.”
“That is where psychology comes in too, it’s not only about physical training, the psychological aspect of the game and the mental part of it, they all have to be combined, because it is not a small task, this is a big challenge.”
The Flying Eagles qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup after reaching the semi-final of the AFCON U-20 tournament.
At the AFCON tournament in Egypt, Nigeria beat Ugandan U-20, to clinch the semi-final ticket.
The last time Nigeria was close to winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament was in 2005. When Nigeria played in the finals against Lionel Messi’s Argentina. They were unsuccessful, losing the tie to Argentina; and ever since Nigeria became a shadow of their former self.
Nigeria will know their world cup opponents and group on Friday, 21 March 2023.
