Super Falcons Captain Onome Ebi, has joined a local Nigeria women’s league outfit Naija Ratels npflupdates.com reports.
Onome Ebi agreed to terms and joined the blossoming women’s team after helping the Super Falcons reach a knockout stage in the 2023 FIFA women’s world cup tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

The experienced defender, is the first and only African footballer male/female to have appeared in six different FIFA world cup finals.
According to Barrister Paul Edeh, President of Naija Ratels Sports Development Foundation (NSDF), Ebi will not only be celebrated.
And based on the statement of the businessman, the 40-year-old was gifted a piece of land in Life Camp Abuja.

“We are not only going to celebrate Onome, we will do what is required to celebrate the legend. And that is why today on behalf of RSDF, we are announcing a plot of land at Life Camp Abuja for Onome.”
According to Edeh, the offer was in line with the Foundation’s resolve to continuously lift the status of Women football in Nigeria.
“I’m particularly elated today because what Onome brings to the club is beyond just playing football. Her presence will also motivate other players of the club to bring out their best and aspire to be the best, play for Super Falcons and so on,” he said.
Speaking further, Edeh had called for due recognition for Onome Ebi, who have excelled in her career. And in his statement, he advocated that President Tinubu name one of the stadia in Nigeria after the four-time WAFCON champion.

“The best way to celebrate a woman who has not only made Nigeria but Africa proud is to name one of the stadia after Onome Ebi. For us at the RSDF, we have been at the forefront of developing Women’s football for almost five years now.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the gigantic defender, confesses her decision to join Naija Ratels goes beyond football. According to her, it’s all about inspiring upcoming younger generations.

“My joining Naija Ratels is beyond playing football. It’s about inspiring young upcoming female players from the grassroots to thank & believe that if they dare like I did, they can make history like I did in a climate where a woman have to do twice as much work to achieve success,” she said.
“I strongly think my story won’t be complete if I don’t accomplish the goal of giving back to the Nigerian league, which nurtured me to stardom.”
In addition, Ebi, highlighted that it will be a dream come true to some of the girls at Naija Ratels to train with her; as she was in her not able to train with some notable Super Falcons legends.

“When I was very younger, I never had the opportunity to see or train with great legends like Florence Omagbemi and others who were my idols back then. Today, I’m a legend, making it in life as a Footballer in one of the most difficult climate any girl could possibly hope to play,” she added.
