It was a top-of-the-table clash between KRC Genk and Club Brugge. Game was a stalemate until the 73rd minute when Genk was awarded a spot-kick.
Arokodare who’s among the leading goalscorers in the league was denied by former Liverpool shot-stopper Mignolet.
With momentum shifting sides after the miss, Brugge scored twice in ten minutes to deny Arokodare and his side a victory.
Speaking to the media after the match, the Super Eagles eligible revealed his teammates’ and fans support.
He however, revealed that those attacking him, were those who lost some fortunes on sports betting.
Arokodare accuses bettors of social media bullying
“I immediately felt support from my teammates, and afterwards, I received a lot of messages of encouragement from supporters,” Arokodare told Belgian outlet De Zondag via Voetbal Belgie.
“The accusatory, reproachful, and racist messages I received came from gamblers who had supposedly lost a lot of money because of me.”
Based on his recent form, Nigerians are hoping that Tolu Arokodare will be included the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 world cup qualifiers in March 2025.
In another story, Black Galaxies’ coach Mas-Ud Udi Dramani, insists his side has what it takes to beat Nigeria to the 2025 CHAN ticket.
The first leg of the tie at the Accra stadium ended in a barren stalemate. Nigeria is hoping to be at the CHAN after missing out of the 2022 edition.
And to qualify for the tournament, the Super Eagles B will have to beat Ghana in regulation time or during penalty shootouts if it goes down to the wire.
“As much as possible, we will try to keep a clean sheet, but I want to believe that we will surely score,” Dramani said confidently.
“We will score; we will open up something. I control the energy, the effort, I control the performance (of my boys), but the results, we don’t control it.”
Speaking further, Dramani emphasised the positive impact of the competition on Ghana’s domestic league.

“When we don’t qualify, there is still positive. What is positive about this is that these boys have been exposed to a certain level of our Ghanaian league, and this is the page that we want to print out—that we are expressing our domestic competition structure to the rest of Africa and the world,” he explained.
